Why BCW is Formed
There are limits to how much NHS funds are available to for training and research. We are currently limited in the West country as to how much of this activity we can support. BCW will aim to improve the way we diagnose and treat patients with bowel cancer by supporting training and research in this area.
Early diagnosis, screening, genetics, endoscopy, radiology, surgery, anaethesia, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and palliative care are all key components in the care pathway for bowel cancer patients. In all these areas we can improve opportunities for training and research for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
